Compatibility Notes: Many alternative SMS applications create issues. With an app like Go SMS Pro or Handcent, you'll need to make sure they are not blocking other applications from receiving messages in order for AutoReply or AutoForward to work. DefendSMS may not work with these applications.
Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy S 4 on AT&T has both the stock SMS app, and an AT&T SMS App, which interferes with functionality. The AT&T SMS App can be disabled from the Settings => Apps menu in the phone.
